AGM - Are they now teaching predestination?
by Doubting Bro inanother agm thought.
in tight pants tony's part, he mentioned several times that jehovah draws those he chooses and only those rightly disposed would come in.
and individuals that liked the literature but made no progress towards becoming jw were a "waste of time".. was he setting the stage for them introducing the thought of predestination?

How does TP Tony presume to know what Jehovah does or doesn't think or do? If Jehovah is specifically choosing to draw certain ones "in" how does that explain those who come "in" for years and then later leave? Did he make a mistake? If Jehovah is doing the "choosing" why does it take thousands of hours of knocking on doors, to find the rare person who is interested? Why are most of the current JW's getting baptized made up of the children of JW parents? Are they brainwashed or does Jehovah make sure JW's get pregnant with babies who will be "rightly disposed"?

Damon Wayans was apparently at 2017 Annual Meeting
by Richard_I infrom this post on reddit.com/r/exjw, damon wayans was at the 2017 annual meeting.
the wayans were raised as jw's but i don't think any of them stated.. strange to see him here.
this is the same man who defended bill cosby from all the sex abuse allegations..

A JW viewing a Photo of Marlon Wayans a local Church: The religions of Christendom condone and often make idols of these people even though the are mixed up in the politics of the world and their comedy is full of suggestive and inappropriate humor.A JW viewing a photo of Marlon Wayans at the Kingdom Hall : Even celebrities are among those who know we have the truth are loyally serving Jehovah by spreading his message to other celebrities who wouldn't normally be reached by ordinary Publishers.

Door-to-door Going Forward
by berrygerry ini found that the sale (placement) of books and magazines was always a challenge, but it was still attainable.
when the magazines switched from semi-monthly to monthly, magazine calls were automatically cut in half.
return visits that were made "just to say hi" were hugely awkward.. i never participated in the "please watch a video on my tablet" work, but i would imagine that the fail rate compared to magazine placement is massive.. reducing magazine frequency yet again would make me worked up inside.

I found that the sale (placement) of books and magazines was always a challenge, but it was still attainable.
Remember when every so often they actually required us to go to the door and ask people if they wanted a "yearly subscription" of the Watchtower and Awake. It was bad enough that those of us in the religion had to read them and hash over them at the meetings but I couldn't imagine why anyone outside the religion would want to read them let alone have a yearly subscription, especially considering all of the JW only topics.
Looking back it shows me how fanatical, delusional and narcissistic the leaders of the religion were. I think today's group is embarrassed by their past.

As time goes on and as these changes occur, I think there will be more and more JW's who will realize that us "apostates" aren't as crazy as they thought and they will little by little allow themselves to look into the other side of the story or at least soften up toward their family members who have left.
I've already seen a change in one of my staunch Elder Bro in Laws who seems to be of the mind set that say's "It may not be the truth but it's a good way of life and it's all I know". Although he sees the holes, he doesn't care, It doesn't matter at this point what they say or do, he'd rather play along than face the scary fact that he's been participating in a "group delusion" for 40+ years.

The upcoming protest at Warwick on November 5th

Not sure about the idea of involving other religions, as doing so may be seen as a conflict of interest on the part of the churches involved.
It would be good to have authorities or officials from human rights type organizations who could address the issue of shunning, child abuse and the break of families due to WT policies, without focusing their doctrinal beliefs.

"Circumcision is a sign to set you apart from the people of the nations"
by stuckinarut2 inwe know that the hebrew scriptures, or old testament states that the practice of circumcision (of males) was supposed to be yet another sign that set the jews apart from the "people of the nations".
but apart from so many odd things, how dumb is this?.
i mean, how did someone know if a male was circumcised or not??

I was born with out eyelids. So when I got circumcised, the surgeon grafted the foreskin to my eyes to make eyelids. Now I have very good foresight.
Could be worse...you could have ended up being a little cockeyed.

When I was in Bethel back in the late 70's there was a protest outside bethel by a large group of Hasidic Jews.
They were marching around in full garb (black hats, long black coats, long curled forelocks) marching back and forth on the sidewalk, on the Brooklyn Bridge and even up on the freeway overpass, carrying down with watchtower signs down. It was quite a sight to see from the factory windows. I'm sure it wasn't the first time it happened but in the past, events like that, never reached the congregation level. As far as the average JW was concerned, everyone in New York loved the watchtower and was thrilled to have them in the city.

"I kind of wonder what people on this board be saying if he walked straight past you and said nothing. Perhaps damned if they do and damned if they don't would come to mind."
Perhaps it would have been less odd if the JW would have just walked up and said "Hello" instead of pointing out the obvious that he wasn't going to shun snuglelebunny. As it was, this seemd more like a backhanded reminder that snugglebunny was someone on the outside and was in a position to be shunned yet the JW was going to be noble and speak to him anyway.

JW: "Hi!" "I would never ignore you you know".
Snugglebunny: "More is the pity".
